Ross Hammond is an actor, comedian, and writer living in Toronto, Ontario. He has performed on stage and screen, with original plays being produced through his theatre company House of Rebels Theatre in a vain attempt to justify the five years he spent earning a four year Theatre Degree.
Original plays include King of the Castle (2016) (which he wrote and directed), The Resurrectionists (2017) and Please Stand Clear (2019) (Both written by and starring Ross, in a particularly pretentious sort of way.)
As a writer, he focuses on characters who have rich inner lives revealed when thrust into unusual situations. Such as a millennial who must track down the murderer of his childhood imaginary friend. Or the life and crimes of 19th-century grave robbers in rural Ontario. And even a man who may or may not be visited by an angel while considering throwing himself to his death.
Ross has performed extensively in the Toronto Comedy Scene. During the Covid-19 pandemic and the ensuing lockdowns, Ross began producing a “live” online comedy show over Zoom entitled The T.O.ZoomShoom, which gathered comedians from across the globe for twice-monthly evenings of virtual live comedy. The ZoomShoom’s mission is “Comedy Helping Community”, and as such ticket revenue from every ‘Shoom is donated to a different charity chosen every month. The T.O.ZoomShoom is now a monthly live show (like, actually in a place that you can go to, not on Zoom) which continues that same mission of helping charities we think are doing excellent work! Past recipients have included The SickKids Foundation, Big Brothers Big Sisters Toronto, Street Haven at the Crossroads, The 519 Community Centre, The Daily Bread Food Harvest, Maggies Toronto, and more.
